Farm Day Camps

Summer Camp Adventure

Welcome to a place where summer feels limitless and every child belongs.

Our summer day camp is more than just a program-it’s a vibrant, joy-filled community where kids with special needs can explore, create, laugh, and shine in their own unique ways. From the moment campers arrive, they’re welcomed into an environment designed with them in mind-one that celebrates differences, encourages friendships, and turns everyday moments into unforgettable adventures.

Each day is packed with hands-on activities, outdoor play, creative arts, and exciting discoveries, all thoughtfully adapted to meet every child’s needs and abilities. Whether it’s interacting with farm animals, expressing themselves through music and art, or building confidence through new challenges, campers are supported by caring staff who believe in their potential.

Here, inclusion isn’t just a word-it’s something you can feel. It’s in the laughter echoing across the field, the high-fives after trying something new, and the friendships that grow stronger with each passing day.

This is a place where kids don’t just attend camp-they belong, they thrive, and they make summer their own.

What makes our camp special? Our Staff!

Our inclusive summer camp staff is the heart of everything we do. Made up of compassionate, highly trained individuals, our team is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and joyful environment for every camper. Each staff member brings a unique blend of experience, patience, and enthusiasm, with specialized training in working with children of all abilities.

To ensure our campers have the best experience possible we have enlisted the help of Brittany, as our camp director. She comes to us with a Bachelors of Science degree in Special Education from Old Dominion University and five years of hands-on classroom experience.

Our counselors and specialists are committed to meeting each child where they are, providing personalized support while encouraging independence, confidence, and social connection. From leading engaging activities to offering one-on-one guidance when needed, our staff ensures that every camper feels seen, valued, and included. We prioritize each child’s needs as an individual and as members of a small group. To allow our staff the best opportunity to meet those needs all campers will be divided into three teams. Each team will consist of a team captain and two assistants so we can be readily available to all campers.

Above all, our team believes in the potential of every child. Their passion, creativity, and genuine care help turn everyday camp moments into meaningful experiences, making our camp a place where all children can truly thrive.

What is Equine-Assisted Learning?

Look closely at this photo. Kenneth is drawing in the sand — completely focused, completely calm. And right there next to him? One of our mini donkeys, quietly curious, keeping him company.

That's equine-assisted learning in a nutshell. 🐴

You might have heard the term and wondered what it actually means. Here's the simple version: equine-assisted learning uses interactions with horses and donkeys to help people develop important life skills. And it doesn't always mean riding! A lot of the most powerful work happens exactly like this — just a child, an animal, and a moment of quiet connection.

At Fox Moon Farm, our clients might spend time grooming a horse, leading one through simple obstacles, or just sitting together in the pasture. What they're actually learning? Emotional regulation. Patience. Non-verbal communication. Genuine confidence.

Horses and donkeys are incredibly tuned in to our energy and emotions. They respond honestly and without judgment — giving real feedback in real time, in a way no textbook ever could.

For individuals with special needs who may struggle to feel understood or regulated in everyday settings, that kind of honest, gentle connection is genuinely life-changing.

No horse experience needed. Just an open heart. 💚

Have you ever seen a child just melt into an animal?

That smile you're looking at? That's Aleigha, and that's Nappy — one of our mini donkeys here at Fox Moon Farm. In that moment, nothing else existed. No anxiety. No overwhelm. Just pure, unfiltered joy.

This is what we do at The Fox Moon Farm Project.

We're a nonprofit farm dedicated to equine-assisted and farm-based learning for children and adults with special needs. Our clients come to us struggling with anxiety, emotional regulation, lack of self confidence, and the simple but essential task of finding joy in everyday life.

And the farm helps. Every single time.

Every session is one-on-one, one hour long, and completely tailored to what your family member needs that day. They might groom our horses, care for our mini donkeys, feed the goats, work in our garden, do farm chores, or make crafts inspired by the animals they love. No pressure. No judgment. Just learning, growth, and moments exactly like this one.

If you've been searching for something different — something that meets your loved one where they are — we'd love to introduce you to the farm. 🌿🐴

There is a child somewhere right now who has been told — by life, by circumstance, by pain — that they are broken.

We believe differently.

At The Fox Moon Farm Project, we believe that every child and adult who steps foot on our property carries something unbroken inside them. Something resilient and wild and waiting to be seen.

And we believe the animals know it too.

Our Healing with Horses program exists for:
✨ Children and adults with cognitive, social and/or behavioral challenges.
✨ Kids in or aging out of foster care.
✨ Those carrying anxiety, anger, lack of self confidence, struggles regulating emotions & more.

First they come to the farm. Then they breathe. They work. They connect. And slowly — session by session, horse breath by horse breath — they remember who they are beneath it all.

This work is made possible by our donors, volunteers, and community.

If Fox Moon Farm has touched your life, or if you believe in what we're building, we invite you to be part of it on a deeper level. Go to our website to volunteer, donate or find out other ways of how you can help.
