About

Nature has a Calming, Restorative Power.

The Fox Moon Farm Project promotes healing and wellness for individuals who have mental, physical, social or learning disabling conditions via our Healing with Horses program. Our services include Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) for at risk youth and those with special needs. We also recently launched our Equine Elders program for seniors with Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Additionally, we support special needs children and teens in our local schools and camps via our hands on recreation and learning program with our Farm Day Trips.

Finally, we offer a Community Garden program to help break the cycle of poverty. We produce, harvest and distribute thousands of pounds of organic produce to our local community in need.

The Crying Need

In Virginia, 12 out of every 20 children, have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), including trauma, abuse, and neglect.

If a child has one ACE, there is an 87% chance they will experience another ACE. So much so that, 3 out of 4 children will experience 4 or more ACES.

ACE’s and the trauma they trigger are the direct cause of behavioral problems many children face:

  • Lack of emotional regulation
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Poor social/communication skills
  • Anger management issues & more
