Give What You Can

Over 700 children enter the foster care system every single day. 90% of these children will experience trauma. 25% will attempt suicide, and thats just for those who are still in the system. 81% of these young men will be incarcerated and 71% of these young women will become pregnant. 40% will be homeless within 18 months.

Scary statistics but true.

Your donation provides critical funding for our Healing with Horses program, our Day Trips for kids and our Community Garden. Your donation helps us care for our horses and provides financial scholarships to those in need. Even the smallest donation helps.

Thank you, Cindy & Maria

Healing with Horses

50% of all children experience some form of trauma before the age of 17. That’s a pretty big number. That has led to exploding levels of anxiety, depression, anger, suicidal tendencies and more. In Virginia, 13.8% of all students have special needs and are in special education. And that number continues to rise.

Please consider donating to our Healing with Horses program where we help children (and adults) with special needs, find healing and solace, while learning critical life skills needed to successfully navigate adulthood.

Community Garden

Of the 390,000 children in the foster care system in the United States, 97% of these young adults will enter chronic poverty.

This statistic is astounding! This past season, we planted, grew, harvested and distributed over 2,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to families in need in our community. Not only do our gardens support the impoverished, but they also provide healing for those who work in the soil.

As Seen In the News! (8News / Richmond Magazine Feature)

We are so grateful for the incredible coverage Fox Moon Farm has received from the media — because every story told is another family who might find us. 💚

📺 8News (WRIC Richmond) featured our Healing with Horses program, highlighting how our King and Queen County farm teaches life skills to children with autism through equine-assisted learning. Watch the full segment on our website!

📰 Richmond Magazine dove deep into the world of animal-assisted wellness in their "Wild Wellness" feature — including the science behind why horses have such a profound effect on the human nervous system. (Spoiler: horses in herds synchronize heartbeats. When they trust you, they can help yours slow down too.)

📖 The House and Home Magazine told our story beautifully in "Where Hooves and Hearts Meet."

📹 Real Virginia featured us in a special segment on Care Farming — the growing movement of using farm environments as healing spaces.

Want to read and watch all of these? Head to buff.ly/2bnAS7Z — it's all there.

And if you've been wondering whether what we do really works — let the journalists speak. 🐴

Volunteer With Us!

Love horses? Love making a difference? We need YOU. 🙌

The Fox Moon Farm Project runs on the passion and dedication of our incredible volunteers — and right now, we're looking for people who want to give their time in a few key ways:

🌿 Horse Care — Help us groom, feed, and exercise our horses. Keep their water troughs clean, maintain the barn, and support the general care of our herd. Horse experience preferred!

🌱 Garden Help — Our community garden grows thousands of pounds of fresh produce each summer for local families in need. We need hands in the soil — planting, weeding, harvesting, and distributing.

🏡 Farm Maintenance — Running a 60-acre farm is a big job. If you love working outside, there's always mowing, fencing, mucking, and general upkeep to be done.

Volunteering at Fox Moon Farm is one of those rare opportunities where you leave feeling more filled up than when you arrived.

Come spend time with incredible animals, meaningful work, and a community that truly cares.

📲 Visit buff.ly/eJRuw9r to fill out our volunteer form. We'd love to have you! 💚
