Women’s Programs

Discover the Healing Power of Horses

We are excited to announce the expansion of our offerings with two brand-new Women’s Programs!
These programs are tailored for women looking to rediscover their love for horses or those who want to embark on a new journey of self-care and personal growth. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to create a safe space where women can practice presence and cultivate inner listening. Work with our equine friends to learn to reduce anxiety, build self-confidence, and enhance overall happiness. By working closely with our horses and then turning focus inwards, we hope participants  leave more in tune with their body and spirit.

At The Fox Moon Farm Project, we are dedicated to providing transformative experiences focused on the healing powers of nature and animals. Our serene farm environment offers a safe haven designed to foster self-discovery, confidence, and community through the powerful connection with our horses and the healing energy of nature.

Are you tired of taking care of everyone else but yourself? Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, fatigued and depleted? Join us for an adventure in personal exploration. We’ll meet at the farm every other Sunday morning to spend an hour with our horses where each woman will be paired with either a horse or miniature donkey, to embark on a journey of self-care and personal growth. Work with our equine friends to learn to reduce anxiety, build self-confidence, and enhance overall happiness. In the final hour, we will return our horses and donkeys out to pasture, while we focus on mindfulness and rejuvenation. This hour will involve sound baths, breathwork, meditation, yoga, forest bathing, journaling and more.

At the start of the program, we will sit as a group and set intentions for our work together. Writing in our horse journals, we will identify our struggles, goals and aspirations for our time here at the farm.

  • Horsemanship Skills: We will learn the fundamentals of working with horses, including grooming, leading, safety, reading horse behavior, feeding, and basic commands. As you engage with your equine companion, you’ll uncover a growing bond that nurtures your confidence and self-esteem. During each session, you will spend quality time with your horse, including thoughtfully designed activities which promote connection and joy, allowing you to tap into your playful side and experience the healing power of animal companionship.
  • Group Reflection: Our horses serve as mirrors to our souls, helping us process hidden emotions and feelings in a supportive group setting where shared experiences and insights can emerge.

After your time with the horses, join Lora Bishop, founder of Soulshine Wellness and Retreats, for an hour of breathwork, soundbaths, meditation, journaling and more, in our tranquil Forest Wellness Space or at our lakeside retreat, Soul Moon Cove.

Lora is devoted to helping individuals reconnect with their inner power, regulate their nervous system, and create lasting personal change.

Through a unique integration of breathwork, energy healing, Reiki, somatic practices, hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Time Line Therapy®, heart coherence techniques, and mindset coaching, Lora guides clients beyond surface-level healing into deep subconscious transformation.

Her work focuses on restoring balance within the autonomic nervous system, releasing emotional blocks stored in the body, and helping individuals rewrite the internal patterns that shape their lives. By combining science-backed nervous system regulation with powerful mind-body modalities, Lora creates experiences that are both deeply restorative and profoundly transformational.

Clients often describe her sessions as immersive journeys—where breath, sound, energy, and subconscious work converge to create breakthroughs in clarity, self-worth, emotional freedom, and personal empowerment.

At the heart of her work is a simple but powerful belief:

When the body is regulated, the mind is clear, and the heart is open—true transformation becomes possible.

Are you ready to embark on this transformative journey? By engaging with our horses and participating in mindful practices, you’ll cultivate resilience, inner peace, and deeper connections—both with yourself and the wonderful community of women around you.

Join us for a weekly one-on-one session with our certified horseback riding instructor, where you’ll discover the essentials of horseback riding in a calm and nurturing environment. Before you saddle up, you’ll focus on developing foundational horsemanship skills to ensure you feel confident and prepared for your riding experience.

In these initial sessions, you’ll also cultivate a meaningful partnership with your horse, gaining insights into their body language and emotions. Once this connection is established and your skills are honed, you’ll embark on your horseback riding adventure.

Each session blends horsemanship with mindfulness, teaching you techniques such as “horse breathing,” emotional regulation, and anxiety reduction. Come ride with us and deepen your bond with these magnificent animals while enhancing your overall well-being!

    • Basic Horsemanship Skills: Understand horse behavior, anatomy, and care. Learn safety practices when approaching, handling, and grooming your horse. Develop the skills to successfully tack up in English or Western disciplines. Practice groundwork exercises through in-hand and liberty work to build a thriving partnership with your horse.
    • Riding Skills: Discover balance, posture, and traditional riding techniques. Master the art of communication with your equine partner through different bodily cues.
    • Mindfulness & Life Skills: Engage in practices that help you reduce anxiety, regulate emotions, increase self-confidence, and improve social communication.

Interesting Facts About Autism: Uniquely Wired, Uniquely Gifted

Did you know? Individuals with autism often experience the world in profoundly different — and remarkable — ways. 🌟

Here are a few things that make autistic individuals truly extraordinary:
✨ Heightened sensory awareness. Many autistic individuals can notice details others miss entirely — textures, sounds, patterns, and energy shifts that most people walk right past.
✨ Exceptional memory. A significant number have remarkable recall for facts, sequences, and systems they're passionate about.
✨ Deep focus and passion. When an autistic person finds their area of interest, their ability to dive deep and master it is extraordinary.
✨ Energetic sensitivity. Many autistic children are highly attuned to the emotional and energetic states of others — and especially animals. Horses often form deep, intuitive bonds with them for exactly this reason.
✨ Creative brilliance. From visual art to music to systems thinking, autistic individuals often see and create in ways neurotypical minds simply don't.
At Fox Moon Farm, we don't see challenges — we see unique, beautiful human beings who need the right environment to thrive. Our horses seem to agree. 🐴

🌿 A Day of Joy at Fox Moon Farm 🌿

There are days here at The Fox Moon Farm Project that remind us exactly why we do this work — and our recent visit from the Autism Society Central Virginia was one of them.

We were honored to welcome a wonderful group of families to the farm for an afternoon of connection, discovery, and a whole lot of laughter.

The day began with our horses and donkeys. Before any hellos, the children learned important safety lessons from Kylie — how to approach a horse, how to offer a gentle hand at feeding time, and how to read these big, kind animals. Then came the grooming! Our miniature donkey Nappy soaked up every bit of attention, and the children met Merlin, one of our oldest and sweetest rescues. (And yes — when Nappy decided it was the perfect moment to poop, our little farmhands jumped right in to help clean up. Real farm work, after all! 💩😄)

After a snack and some water back at the community center, we headed to the henhouse to spend time with our goats, chickens, and of course Sassy the pig. The children lit up gathering eggs and scattering feed for the hens.
And what's a farm day without a ride? Everyone took turns on the tractor and golf cart as we made our way down to the lake to hunt for turtles and frogs. 🐸
To the team at Autism Society Central Virginia — thank you for spending the day with us. Watching these children explore, care, and connect with our animals is the heart of everything we believe in: the healing power of nature, one gentle moment at a time.

We can't wait for our next adventure together. 🦊🌙

What Does an Equine Assisted Farm Based Learning Session Look Like?

This right here is Desi, and he is WORKING. 💪

He's not playing pretend. He's not doing a worksheet. He is shoveling real compost that will feed real soil that will grow real food. And he knows it.

That sense of genuine, meaningful contribution? It's one of the most powerful things that happens at Fox Moon Farm.

So — what does a session actually look like here? Every session is one hour, one-on-one, and completely individualized. We start by checking in: how is your family member feeling today? What do they need?

From there, the session unfolds naturally. Some days that looks like: 🐴 Grooming and bonding with one of our horses 🫏 Feeding and caring for our mini donkeys 🐐 Learning responsibility through goat care 🐷 Visiting our pet pig, Sassy 🌱 Getting their hands in the soil in our garden 🌾 Farm chores that build strength, routine, and pride.

Every single activity is purposeful. Measuring feed teaches math and focus. Mucking the donkey pen supports gross motor skills and the satisfaction of completing something real. Earning a horse's trust teaches patience and self-regulation. Leading an animal builds communication and confidence.

Our clients leave each session having had real fun AND having practiced real life skills. 💚

Curious? We'd love to have you visit. Message us to schedule a free consultation!
