Kiele Marston

Equine Specialist

In elementary school, Kiele made a friend who owned horses. One invitation to the farm later, and the horse bug bit. Kiele jokes that every time she tries to look for a non-equine career, they seem to find a way to creep back into her life. But this led her to becoming a part of The Fox Moon Farm Project!

With a Psychology degree in hand and the COVID shutdown straight after college, Kiele found herself volunteering at a local therapeutic riding center. One thing led to another and she gained her PATH Intl. certifications as a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Equine Specialist in Mental Health & Learning in order to join as a staff member of that center. While she holds these equestrian certifications, Kiele believes that there is always something new to learn from horses every day alongside clients!

Having a disability herself, deaf with a cochlear implant, Kiele has a passion for supporting the dreams and goals of others with disabilities. Growing up riding horses and learning to advocate for herself in a noisy world, Kiele truly believes in the therapeutic power of horses to lift others up.

When not running around with our herd, Kiele enjoys being a social butterfly, hiking, gardening, creating art, and reading. She can’t wait to meet you!

Yesterday the farm held its breath with us. 🍃

Our Hoofbeats & Heartbeats women gathered again, continuing our journey toward the core wound — but this time, we took one tender step further into something harder than naming our pain: surrender.

We began softly, with breath. Each woman named one thing she was ready to release — a fear, a stress, the weight of being overwhelmed. Then we walked quietly into the forest, letting the woods hold us as we searched for something to carry that burden for us. A stone. A leaf. A pinecone. Something real to hold the weight we’ve carried too long.

From there, we met the horses.
Each woman was paired with the horse she’d grown close to in past sessions, and together they practiced something deceptively simple: the loose lead. Halter on, lead in hand — and then, just… presence. Standing together. Holding the lead loosely. And noticing. Do I feel the need to pull her closer? To control? To take care of her before myself? No judgment. Only gentle, honest information about the patterns we carry into every relationship we have.

And then came the magic. We gathered with Lora in the pasture for a sound bath unlike any other — out in the open in the pastures with the horses. Bunny wandered over, curious and drawn in by the vibrations. Lora guided us in a heart-centered meditation. Horses, women, sound, and stillness, all breathing together.

It was a day of healing, of nurturing, of love. The kind of day this farm was made for.

We can’t wait to gather again in two weeks. 🐴💛

Why Horses? The Mirror to Our Souls

Horses don't care about your diagnosis. They don't see your label.
They feel your energy.

Horses are prey animals who have survived for thousands of years by reading the emotional and energetic states of those around them — with extraordinary precision. They communicate almost entirely through body language. A shift in posture. A flick of an ear. A softening of the eye.

When you approach a horse, they already know how you're feeling — before you say a word.

This is why horses are so uniquely powerful in therapeutic settings:
🐴 They are a living biofeedback system. A horse will mirror your emotional state back to you in real time. Anxious? The horse reflects it. Calm and present? The horse responds in kind.
🐴 They are non-judgmental. Horses don't have opinions about your past, your behavior, or your struggles. They simply respond to who you are right now.
🐴 They require authentic communication. You can't fake it with a horse. They ask you to show up honestly — and in doing so, they help people access parts of themselves they didn't know were there.
🐴 Their heartbeat is contagious. Studies show that humans in close proximity to horses can actually entrain to the horse's slower, calmer heart rate — a biological gift for those struggling with anxiety or trauma.
A horse is not just an animal. They are a mirror to our souls.
That's why we do what we do at Fox Moon Farm. 🌿
