Volunteer

There are lots of opportunities to volunteer at Fox Moon Farm. We rely on volunteers to help us with almost all facets of our operation, from helping us manage our Day Trips for the children, to caring for the horses and the rest of the critters, helping us in the garden and maintaining the farm.

How Can Volunteers Help?

Day Trips

We are always looking for volunteers to help us with our Farm Day Trips. These activities can vary depending on the day and the activities we are offering. You may help oversee an activity like feeding the animals, or help a group of children in the garden. In other cases, we might need assistance in the kitchen making a snack or box lunches or help gather instruments or wood for our drumming sessions by the fire.

Maintaining the Farm

Running a 60-acre farm is no easy feat and we can use all of the help we can get. If you like to work outside with your hands, this can be very gratifying work. Help us mow, fix fences, muck the barn, fill holes etc.

Healing with Horses

Do you love horses and helping people? We are need of volunteers in the horse barn. We always need help caring for our horses, which includes grooming, feeding, keeping their water troughs clean, dragging the field and more. No experience necessary, but if you have experience with horses, even better πŸ™‚

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the form below and we will get back in touch with you. Thank you!

Last week, one of our teens chose to ride Bunny. Their last ride together had been a bit of a challenge, but this time was something special.

They brought Bunny in from the pasture, groomed her, tacked her and climbed on, all on their own. As they let the tension leave their own body, Bunny softened too, lowering her head and relaxing into the walk. That's the quiet magic of horses: they meet us right where we are.

Then we threw in a surprise. We asked them to help teach a lesson for one of our younger riders. They were nervous, and they said yes anyway. They cheered, encouraged, helped with grooming, gave a riding pattern and even took a turn on the lunge line.

The younger kids look up to this teen, and after last week we can see why. Growth looks a lot like courage. πŸ’›

πŸ”₯🐴 Hoofbeats & Heartbeats: Our Closing Ceremony 🐴πŸ”₯

This weekend we gathered one last time as a circle of women for the final session of Hoofbeats & Heartbeats, and our hearts are still so full.

Over these past months, these brave women showed up again and again. They came looking for grounding and direction, and with the horses as their guides, they courageously looked within: at the core wounds beneath the people-pleasing, the protecting, the caring for everyone but themselves. And they discovered the quiet, peaceful voice that was there all along. πŸ’›

Our closing day was sacred. We sat around the fire as the rain fell, each sharing something we were grateful for and something we were ready to release. We wrote them on bay leaves and gave them to the fire and the lake.

Our beloved Maria guided us through the Native American tradition of prayer ties: small cloth bundles holding sacred tobacco and herbs, each one infused with our prayers, gratitude, and healing intentions. Many of us offered our ties to the fire, sending those prayers up with the smoke.

Then came the dancing! πŸ’ƒ Arms raised, laughter ringing through the gazebo, and maybe a happy tear or two. We ended the way we began, with our horses, saying a tender goodbye to the gentle teachers who showed us who we truly are.

To every woman in this circle: thank you for your courage, your presence, and your willingness to look within. The light has been turned on, and it isn't going anywhere. ✨

🌱 Hoofbeats and Heartbeats returns this spring! If you feel called to join our next circle, keep an eye on this page or reach out to us to learn more.
